Combining classical with contemporary through utilising sampling and looping technology, Emily has developed an exciting and innovative program of new music for the cello.

Into the Amazon is an innovative solo cello production inspired and initiated by Emily’s personal experience of living and working with the Xavante, a tribal community in the Amazon of Brazil who have a tradition of singing at the core of their culture.

This is not just a concert to entertain, this is a performance which  aims to inspire both young and old alike with a unique approach of performing and talking with wit and pathos about what it is that inspires Emily as a composer. In the second half of the performance ‘Into the Amazon’ with field recordings of the natural environment and traditional singing of tribal people integrated within her musical compositions she transmits to the audience through the vehicle of a concert an experience of a day from dawn to dusk in an Indian village in the Amazon forest of Brazil.
