Overcoming lockdown challenges – Recording my cello part in my music room 29/01/2021 for @philipclemo & Thomas Moors multimedia production “From Silence into Song”
Join us live on Facebook to mark World Cancer Day, with the incredible Shout at Cancer choir, choir director Dr Thomas Moors, renowned cellist Emily Burridge and film-maker & composer Philip Clemo.
‘From Silence Into Song’ is a collaboration between the Shout at Cancer choir, Dr Moors and Philip Clemo. The project provides a platform for previously silent witnesses: bringing together the extraordinary trees that survived the atomic bombs of Hiroshima & Nagasaki with a choir of cancer survivors who have learnt to sing after laryngectomy (surgical removal of the voicebox).
In our Facebook Live event we will meet the survivor trees and hear powerful poetic testimony from their perspective. We will become immersed in soundscapes developed from diverse fragments including B29 bomber engines, Morse code and Japanese songs about the dropping of the atomic bombs. Cellist Emily Burridge will weave these elements together into a mesmerising online performance.
