Released: 2010 Recent Reviews "Emily Burridge has produced a unique two-album set with "Out of the Blue & Into the Amazon".....A very unusual and distinctive creation" Richard Giles Nexus Magazine April - May 2011 Vol 18 No.3 ..."Emily set up her own studio in the early 1990's and began a fascination with the Amazon. This two CD reflects this interest - one is a collection of her own subtle compositions, while the second is a soundtrack for the dawn-to-dusk daily life of a South American Indian tribe. Deep, fascinating and unique" About the album... In her new solo production Emily Burridge plays the ’cello in extraordinary and novel ways. By adopting modern looping and sampling technology Emily has created multi-tracked compositions which utilise the palette of different sounds and tonalities that the ‘cello has to offer. She has created music that not only seeps into you, but at times the hypnotic sequences and melodies become quite sensual. Although the names of the various pieces hint at the source of Emily's inspiration the album's title "Out of the Blue" sums up the different reactions listeners have expressed. This collection has evolved from a series of live performances given by Emily over the past two years and the same techniques she uses in concert were applied in the studio. Track Listing 1. Salutation - Out of the Blue
"Out of the Blue" begins with "Salutation" - a greeting, and then the images and pace of a journey ensue with "Out of the Blue". "Reverie" is a dream-like piece, a reflection, a past love; "Globalisation" is a response to the positive and negative associations of the word in our current world view; "A Call to Peace" - is an appeal to all those involved with the decision for the act of war, lastly "Andiamo" - (Let’s get going) is a sensual and joyful dance and reflects influences from South American music.
PLEASE NOTE This album is sold with "Into the Amazon" as in a double CD release.
